Nutrition guidanceLet’s make it
Amounts below match your selected batch. Follow each short step, and use timers as reminders to check the food.
Equipment
Small saucepan with lid · Knife · Cutting board · Fork · Kitchen scale
- 1
Prepare the apples
Start with 500 g whole washed apples. Peel, remove cores and seeds, and cut the flesh into small even pieces. Discard the peels and cores; the purchase weight includes this waste.
- 2
Simmer until soft
Put the apple pieces, 60 ml water and 1 g cinnamon in a small saucepan. Cover and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Reduce to low and cook about 10–15 minutes, keeping covered between stirs, until every piece mashes easily with a fork. If the pan dries, add a splash of tap water to prevent scorching.
- 3
Mash, cool and serve
Mash the soft apples to a texture suitable for your child, then divide into the selected portions. Allow about 5 minutes to cool, or longer if needed to reach a comfortable temperature before serving; check for hot spots. Refrigerate any portions for later promptly.

Make it work for you
For kids & different preferences
Do not offer firm raw apple chunks to young children. Cook until soft and mash as needed. Choose soft textures and shapes for your child’s development. Young children should sit upright and be supervised while eating and should never eat in a moving car or stroller. This is a family snack, not infant-feeding guidance.
Storage & packed lunches
Refrigerate promptly in shallow covered containers at 40°F / 4°C or colder. Refrigerate within 2 hours, or within 1 hour above 90°F / 32°C. For trips, pack in an insulated bag with ice packs and keep cold until eaten. Use within 3 days.
Freezing & reheating
Freeze in small covered portions for up to 1 month for best quality; thaw in the refrigerator.
Serve chilled, or reheat leftovers to 165°F / 74°C, stir well and cool before offering.
If something looks different
Apple varieties soften at different speeds. Add tap water only as needed to keep the bottom moist; keep cooking until fork-mashable. Use a pot sized to your batch, with room to stir; larger batches can need longer.
