AI assistance & recipe images
Bethany’s Kitchen uses AI assistance in creating recipe content and food illustrations. Images are illustrative, not photographs of kitchen-tested dishes; your results may differ. Recipes in this private preview have not been kitchen-tested. AI review does not replace cooking a recipe or a recorded human review.
Nutrition estimates
Nutrition uses USDA FoodData Central ingredient references and documented preparation assumptions. Each recipe’s Nutrition tab lists its sources and any substitute reference foods. Tofu, sauce measurements and unspecified added sugars may appear as ranges; these do not cover every brand. Brands, preparation, substitutions and portion sizes can change the results. Missing nutrient data is not zero. These estimates are not laboratory measurements or individualized medical advice.
Allergens, dietary preferences & cooking
Dietary tags describe the listed ingredients. Check product labels and compound ingredients; cross-contact cannot be ruled out. Substitutions can change allergens, nutrition, texture and cooking time. Follow the recipe’s food-handling, doneness, storage and reheating guidance. No recipe guarantees suitability for every person.
Portions, ingredient matching & timers
Portion adjustments change ingredient quantities; cooking temperature and time do not scale automatically. Ingredient suggestions match names, not the amount or freshness of food in your kitchen. Check quantities, preparation states and equipment before cooking.
Cooking timers depend on your browser and device. Alerts may be delayed in the background and may not work after the browser closes. Use a separate kitchen timer when you need a dependable reminder.
Saved information & availability
Browser-local recipes, notes and plans can be lost if browser storage is cleared, including changes that automatic saving has not yet confirmed to your account. Use the export control and the account-save controls for copies of your information. The account keeps your last 10 previous copies, not an unlimited history, and automatic saving pauses for your review when another device changed the account first. Account confirmation and password recovery use email. Delivery can be delayed or filtered by your email provider. We do not send newsletters or reminder emails.

Your personal information
We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Saving to an account does require us to store the information you choose to save, including lists, favorite recipes, family nicknames and food preferences. This information is private to your account and is handled by our hosting provider and Supabase for website sign-in, or ChatGPT for existing sign-in, to operate the service.
Use a nickname and share only what helps with cooking. You can export or delete your website account data in My account; remove individual family members in My family. Browser copies and downloaded backups are separate, and hosting backups may retain deleted data until they expire. Read the privacy policy.
Store links & shopping estimates
Bethany’s Kitchen is not affiliated with or endorsed by the listed stores. Links do not reserve products or create an order. Confirm your branch, product labels, availability and final prices with the store.
Budget estimate, not a quote. We use four clearly identified sources: your own saved package-price notes; dated public store listings where an exact match is available; store-based package budgets combining a dated retailer listing with explicit usable-yield assumptions; and general planning allowances for recipe ingredients and common extras. The same fallback allowance is used at every store. It is not a researched price for that store or a claim that one store is cheaper. The Orange County, California planning context is not a local shelf-price survey. No live retailer feed is connected.
Warehouse clubs. Costco and Sam’s Club estimates may use bulk packs and membership pricing. Membership fees, delivery charges and tips are excluded. Costco Same-Day listings are delivery references, not warehouse shelf prices. Other references can describe another city or channel. A general fallback does not confirm the actual pack size or availability at a club. No membership purchase is required to use this website.
Planning ranges and assumptions. Ranges are editorial budgeting allowances, informed by selected public references where available. Profiles without a direct observation are identified. The endpoints are not verified lowest/highest prices or statistical confidence limits; actual costs may fall outside them. Package sizes, edible weights, drained yields and olive-oil density are explicit modeling assumptions, not measured product yields. Amounts round up to whole packages. Matching modeled ingredients and identical shared listings combine within a store before package rounding; independent personal notes and different price sources remain separate. Items assigned to different stores use separate packages. Specialty, organic, allergen-free or premium products may cost more. These estimates do not establish dietary suitability; always check labels.
Extras with a recognized name and no amount assume one stated package. Recognized quantities can adjust the count; unclear names remain unpriced. Tap water assumes no separate grocery purchase and is excluded from the priced-item count; utility costs are not estimated. Bought items and items marked already on hand are excluded. Tax, deposits, fees, travel and delivery are excluded. Missing items are never treated as free.
Automatic research for new ingredients. No price entry is required. Recognized foods receive provisional general allowances immediately. New recipe descriptions enter our shared source-research queue when saved by an administrator. Shopping extras enter only after you enable automatic research on that browser and sign in. This one-time choice sends short grocery descriptions to the shared queue and public source searches. Turning it off stops future submissions but does not withdraw earlier requests. The researcher checks retailer product identity, package quantity, price, location, conditions and source date before publishing additions. Checks run about every six hours when the research host and Codex are available; existing sources are reviewed monthly. This is not an instant retailer API, and a queued lookup is not a verified price. Unmatched or ambiguous items remain outside the budget until a safe estimate exists. Refresh the page after an update to receive published additions.
Dates and monthly review. Public listings include the source and retrieval date; search-index copies may be older and may describe another location or shopping method. Shared store listings and store-based package references stop contributing after one calendar month, with a labeled general allowance used when available. Planning allowances are reviewed monthly through a scheduled maintenance task. Their review dates only change after an actual review; overdue allowances stay visible with an overdue warning. A scheduled run is not a guarantee that every retailer can be checked. Your historical notes are preserved; notes with changed quantities or expired/conditional observations require a recheck. Personal prices are not overwritten by monthly maintenance.
Restricted households see general allowances with a label-check reminder; shared product matches and store-based product budgets remain hidden pending product-label review. Store comparisons use only recent, compatible personal observations you confirm—not these modeled ranges. No product images, affiliate tracking or checkout integration are used. Opening a store search sends the ingredient name to that store. Automatic research also uses ingredient descriptions for public source searches; account details and family records are not submitted.
